Janelle and Kody Brown’s daughter, Madison Brush, is expecting her fourth child while still estranged from her father. The “Sister Wives” family is set to grow again as Madison, the 28-year-old daughter of Janelle and Kody Brown, revealed her pregnancy on the show’s Sunday episode. In a September 29 Instagram post, Maddie showed off her baby bump with the caption, “What a wild year! Looks like 2025 might be a little crazy too! Baby Brush #4 coming March 2025.” Janelle also shared the news on her Instagram Story, expressing her excitement.
Madison and her husband, Caleb Brush, already have three children: 7-year-old son Axel, 5-year-old daughter Evie, and 19-month-old daughter Josephine. The pregnancy was announced against the backdrop of Madison’s strained relationship with her father, Kody. This ongoing tension has been a prominent storyline on the latest season of “Sister Wives” since Janelle’s split from Kody in 2022. In a September 22 episode, Kody claimed that Madison had cut off communication, citing his frustration over their interactions, which he felt were solely for gossip. Janelle, however, believes Kody’s distancing began as the family began to dissolve and points out that their kids barely know him due to his absence.
Janelle notes that Madison wants consistency and drama-free interactions from Kody before allowing him into her children’s lives, emphasizing her protective nature. Kody’s declining relationships with his older children, exacerbated by his splits from Janelle, Christine, and Meri Brown, are also highlighted. Robyn Brown, Kody’s remaining wife, has encouraged him to mend his relationships with his children, although she acknowledges that Madison hasn’t reached out either.
Other major events from the current season reveal more about the family’s internal struggles. Meri Brown shared feelings of deceit regarding her marriage, believing Kody led her on with false hopes of a new beginning even as he wished to separate. Kody himself expressed doubts about their relationship from the start, causing mixed messages that Meri eventually acted upon by ending their marriage in early 2023, supported by her friends.
Kody contemplated selling the 14-acre Coyote Pass property because of financial strain, while Robyn opposed the idea. Janelle and Kody’s separation was fueled by his lack of involvement with their children. Kody remarked feeling “excommunicated” from the family, maintaining infrequent contact with his children outside his marriage to Robyn. Despite being monogamous with Robyn, their marriage faced difficulties, with both expressing concerns about rejection and the challenges stemming from Kody’s other divorces.
Maddie, among Kody’s children he doesn’t have a relationship with, has distanced herself along with her husband Caleb, while raising their kids without Kody’s involvement. Kody admitted to never truly loving Meri, making their marriage more problematic. With the family property under dispute, Janelle considered legal action for resolution and claimed that the family’s pooled finances had favored Robyn’s estate.
Despite the complexities, Janelle and Christine view their children as the core of the family unit. Kody reminisced about happier times in Las Vegas, attributing the strain in his relationships with his children partly to his marital breakdowns. He believes his relationships with his kids soured over issues pre-dating Christine’s departure in 2021. Furthermore, Kody shared that his marriages were fraught with personal and financial mismanagement issues, leading to resentment and gaps within the family.
Meri plans a formal spiritual divorce involving their church, desired by her but met with Kody’s reluctance to involve church authorities. The kids themselves have experienced rifts, particularly during a holiday gift exchange. Robyn’s children felt unaccepted within the family, while Christine and Janelle’s kids tried to include them.
Despite it all, Janelle still cherishes the concept of plural marriage, appreciating the sense of community and independence it offered. However, the family’s current state reflects significant fragmentation and the challenges that come with plural marriages facing emotional and logistical turmoil.
